A Barefoot Honeymoon

A honeymoon is not a holiday. It is the first long, undivided stretch of time you have together as something newly formed, and the role of a designer is to make sure that nothing — not a queue, not a transfer, not a meal you didn't choose — gets in the way of that. This ten-day journey is built around that principle.

You begin in the cultural triangle, with Sigiriya at sunrise and a candlelit dinner in a cave temple lit only by oil lamps. From there, the journey moves slowly south: into the hills for a couples' tea-blending session and a planter's bungalow with a fire laid in the lounge by 6pm; into the jungle for two nights of private game drives and a tented suite under the stars; and finally to the south coast for four nights in a cliff-top pool villa at five-star accommodation.

The final stretch is reserved for what we call "unscheduled luxury" — a private chef dinner laid out on the sand, a sunset sail along the coast, a couples' spa ritual in a treehouse above the cove. Everything is private, everything is paced for two people, and everything can be moved or replaced on a single phone call to your in-country concierge.
